Jeep Conversions

Here at Murchison's we offer 3 different Conversion packages. The Mopar JK-8, the AEV TJ Brute, and our own Murchison JK Overland.

Mopar JK-8

We've completed 5 JK-8 conversions so far right here at our workshop in Brendale. They are all in house conversions which we take seriously – attention to detail is everything when converting and we’ve come up with a lot of small but necessary improvements to the conversion process and the fit out itself to ensure that the final product is the best it can be.

JK-8 Conversion Kits are a genuine Mopar Product which we supply, convert and compliance with QLD Transport. This process requires an engineering pre approval in writing from QLD Transport which we as a conversion company have already obtained. Compliancing is included in the conversion price.
JK-8’s are a ‘style side’ ute conversion that converts a 4dr JK Unlimited to a 2dr ‘extra cab’. It is an extensive conversion that takes between 4-6 weeks to perform successfully without being rushed.

Conversion Prices start at $15,000 for a turn-key package including the Mopar Kit itself however there are a few improvement recommendations we would suggest upon ordering. Please contact us for more info. If you’re considering a JK8 conversion and want to put the questions aside give us a call.

• The conversion does not change GVM or Towing Capacity.
• The conversion does reduce the overall weight of the vehicle significantly
• The vehicle MUST be registered before the conversion process starts
• It is advisable to lift the front end of the vehicle approx 1” to match the rear once converted
• The vehicle is re registered as a 2dr once converted

AEV Brute

AEV make arguably some of the best aftermarket products available for the Jeep brand, working closely with the factory R&D team on many concept Jeeps which nearly always make it to SEMA. Murchison Products offers Brute vehicle's as complete "turn-key" packages, road registered ready to go. This includes Queensland Transport Approval and Compliance Plating. (We cannot register or comply a vehicle for any other state.)

We can source & supply the donor vehicle or you can supply your own. One thing we make sure of is that the donor vehicle is of a high standard and not damaged, or run down to a point that it would be unfeasible to perform the conversion on it. Preferably you need to start with a TJ that has a pristine engine and drive-line, the lowest km's you can find and a well looked after interior with a good service history. This is not a cheap exercise and is for the dedicated enthusiast only. To give you a brief idea, $20K plus your vehicle won’t get you much but $30K will.

We know from experience that it is not just a simple kit and wouldn’t be for the average home hobbyist or "Handy with a Spanner" type of person. There is a huge amount of time required to build these vehicles right and the figures that we have seen thrown around the internet for build times are grossly under estimated. You need two people throughout the build to do it right and more importantly, safely. There are also many specialist tools and machines required to undertake the modification, not to mention certification.

• The conversion takes a 2dr TJ Wrangler with a 94” wheelbase and turns it into a long wheel base Ute (approx 117”, same as stock 4dr JK)
• The vehicle is re-registered as a 2dr commercial Ute once completed
• The converted vehicle’s towing capacity is not changed (not able to be either)
• Murchison’s have QLD Transport pre-approval to apply Long Arms, Larger Brakes, Long Range Fuel Tanks and a 6.1 Hemi V8
• The average cost of a Brute conversion is around $30K

Murchison JK Overland

The Murchison Overland takes a 4 door JK, and converts it to 2 door ute, with either tub or custom tray.
The rear axles are relocated back by 10 inches with custom long arm for the front & rear. These long arms can be triangulated as an extra option, if you want to take this build to the next level.
A special edition 3" CRDSTU Overland Lift kit is supplied at the same time.
