With the QLD state Govt. moving Labour Day to October giving us a nice long weekend just as the warmer weather hits, it would've been a shame not to take the opportunity to get out of the big smoke and hit the trails, so that is exactly what we did!
The Brisbane Jeep Club, and Murchison Products customers combined for a two night, three day run through the Springs 4x4 Park. There was plenty of action throughout the 3 days with plenty of rocks and challenging yet entertaining hill climbs. The Springs 4x4 park is a well setup park with brilliant camping sites, super clean amenities, friendly owners and a great atmosphere. Twenty Jeeps plus (we lost count!), a large number of JK's, with a few WH's and WK2s rounded off the count for what was a great few days of wheeling.
The trip even saw a few people cut loose - doors off, roof off and dust masks on, while other just relaxed and stuck to the trails.
Everyone enjoyed the trip, the driving and wheeling, and a few quiet, (and no so quiet) drinks in the evening around a roaring campfire made for a complete event.
It wouldn’t be a BJC/Murchison Trip without some running repairs & candid “WTF” moments so Dave stepped up to the plate with some running repairs req’d’ to Megladon – the WH beast! We took a few hours to remove and repair the radiator with ad hock parts which gave Dave’s WH to get back to Brisbane towing a camper trailer and all!
The Sunday morning’s wheel was delayed somewhat as Brad F locked he’s keys in he’s JK overnight which meant we had to physically remove the doors via unbolting complete hinges!
Thanks to the BJC for running a joint event and we look forward to seeing you on the next one!
At this stage a beach run to Bribie Island on Sunday the 8th is planned, so keep an eye out on the Ausjeepoffroad forum for details soon.
